South Africa will take on Sri Lanka in the Super Six match of the ICC U19 T20 World Cup 2023 on 24th January at North-West University No1 Ground in Potchefstroom. South Africa, though having a shaky start at the beginning of the tournament, picked up well and is now in the top three positions in Group 1 at Super Six.

They ended up second in the group stage and have registered three consecutive wins, with the latest one being the contest against Bangladesh, where the host team won by five wickets. In their most recent match against UAE Women’s U19, South Africa’s brilliant all-rounder Miane Smit won the Player of the Match. The crafty right-arm off-spinner claimed 11/4 in four overs, including one maiden, by causing havoc with the ball.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka is struggling to get back to winning ways as they have incurred three defeats in the last five matches. Though starting well in this World Cup Campaign, the team is now desperate for a win to stay alive in the tournament. They ended up in the third spot in the Group A points table with one win and are now in the sixth spot in the Group 1 points table of the Super Six stage.

Against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka’s captain, Vishmi Gunaratne, had a strong performance with the bat. With an undefeated 60 off 54, the right-handed batter put up an entertaining show by smashing eight fours and a six.
