South Africa will take on New Zealand in the seventh match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2023 in Boland Park, Paarl. The hosts and one of the top contenders for the title South Africa suffered a massive setback in the very first game of the tournament.

They were upset by the mighty Sri Lankan side in the opening game as they were defeated by three runs in a nail-biting last-over thriller. Chasing a target of 130 runs, the hosts weren’t able to build a partnership with wickets falling at regular intervals. Skipper Sune Luus held one end with a 27-ball 28-run knock but didn’t get support from others to take the side through. The Proteas will now look to regroup and make a statement by winning this game.

On the other hand, New Zealand were demolished by the tournament favourites and defending champions Australia. They restricted the Aussies to 173 runs with Lea Tahuhu and Amelia Kerr being the top bowlers picking three wickets each. However, what followed next was a disaster as the White Ferns had no answers to the mystery of Australian bowlers.

They lost both their openers for a golden duck in the first over to Megan Schutt and were finally bundled out on 76 runs suffering a massive 97-run defeat. The Kiwis will now have to sort out their mistakes and bounce back stronger to grab their first win of the tournament.

South Africa:

Marizanne Kapp: Marizanne Kapp is a versatile all-rounder for South Africa. Her calm demeanour under pressure and her ability to rotate the strike make her a valuable addition to the team in the middle order. Kapp’s contribution with the ball is also noteworthy. With her ability to swing the ball both ways, she has been a consistent wicket-taker for the team and has proven to be a thorn in the opposition’s batting line-up.

Shabnim Ismail: Shabnim Ismail is known for her pace and swing, and is considered one of the best fast bowlers in women’s cricket. Ismail has been a consistent wicket-taker for South Africa and has been instrumental in setting up many wins for her team with her early breakthroughs. She has a strong presence on the field and is known for her aggressive approach, which can intimidate the opposition. Ismail’s accuracy and ability to consistently hit the right areas make her a potent threat for the New Zealand batting line-up.

New Zealand:

Amelia Kerr: Amelia Kerr is a young and talented all-rounder, who has established herself as one of the key players in the team. She is known for her exceptional batting skills and has also been successful as a bowler. Kerr’s recent three-wicket haul in the last game was a testament to her all-round abilities. It’s not just her bowling that has fans raving, but also her batting, which has shown that she is a player that can turn the game on its head.

Sophie Devine: Sophie Devine is a destructive opening batter from New Zealand and is considered one of the best in the world. She has the ability to take the attack to the opposition from the start of the innings and is known for her aggressive style of play. Devine has also been successful with the ball and has the ability to pick up crucial wickets. Although she didn’t have a great outing last time, we can expect her to wreak havoc in this encounter.

ICC T20 World Cup 2023: South Africa vs New Zealand, Match 7 – Pitch Report and Weather Forecast

The pitch at Boland Park is expected to provide a good contest between bat and ball. The fast bowlers should find some help from the surface, but the batsmen should also be able to score runs if they get their eye in. The team winning the toss may choose to bat first and try to put up a big score, but both teams will have to be at their best to secure a win in this match. The conditions at Boland Park can change quickly, so it will be crucial for both teams to adapt to the conditions and play to their strengths.

The weather at Paarl is expected to be sunny with the temperature hovering around 32° C. There is only a 10% chance of rain with the humidity ranging around 47% and wind speed at 21 km/h.
