ICC T20 World Cup 2023: Road To Semi-Final – Australia

Australia had a dominant group stage, winning all four of their matches to finish at the top of Group A in the ICC T20 World Cup 2023. They put up some impressive performances with both bat and ball and will be a formidable opponent for any team in the knockout stages of the tournament.

Here’s how Australia performed in the ICC T20 World Cup 2023:

Australia vs New Zealand:

In their first match of the tournament, Australia put up a dominant performance against New Zealand, winning by a massive margin of 97 runs. Batting first, Australia put up a total of 173/9 in their 20 overs, with opener Alyssa Healy top-scoring with 55 off 38 balls. She was well-supported by captain Meg Lanning (41 off 33 balls) and Ellyse Perry (40 off 22 balls). In reply, New Zealand were never really in the game, losing wickets at regular intervals and eventually finishing at 76 all out in 14 overs. Ashleigh Gardner was the pick of the Australian bowlers, taking five wickets for just 12 runs in her three overs.

Australia vs Bangladesh:

In their second match, Australia had a comfortable eight-wicket win over Bangladesh. Batting first, Bangladesh put up a total of 107/7 in their 20 overs, with Nigar Sultana top-scoring with 57. Georgia Wareham starred with the ball taking three wickets. In reply, Australia chased down the target in just 18.2 overs, with the skipper Meg Lanning scoring an unbeaten 48 off 49 balls. She was well-supported by Alyssa Healy who scored 37 off 36 balls.

Australia vs Sri Lanka:

Australia had another dominant performance in their third match, beating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. Sri Lanka batted first and put up a total of 112/8 in their 20 overs courtesy of a four-wicket haul from Megan Schutt. In reply, Australia chased down the target in just 15.5 overs, with both openers, Alyssa Healy (54* off 43 balls) and Beth Mooney (56* off 53 balls) scoring runs freely.

Australia vs South Africa:

In their final group match, Australia had a six-wicket win over South Africa. Batting first, South Africa put up a total of 124/6 in their 20 overs, with Tazmin Brits top-scoring with 45. In reply, Australia chased down the target in 16.3 overs, with Tahlia McGrath scoring 57 off 53 balls.

Overall, Australia had a fantastic group stage, winning all four of their matches in style. In the semi-finals, Australia will face a tough challenge in India, who have also been in good form in the tournament. However, given their depth and all-round ability, Australia will be the favourite to win the match and book their place in the final.

If Australia makes it to the final, they will likely face a strong team such as England or South Africa, who are also among the favourites to win the tournament. However, with their strong all-round performances so far, Australia will be confident of lifting the trophy and becoming champions of the T20 World Cup 2023.
