Selectors have picked the core of the champion U19 Women’s World Cup 2023 squad to be a part of the Emerging Asia Cup 2023, all set to be held in Hong Kong from the 12th to the 21st of June, 2023.
The young brigade, full of vibrant talent will be led by Shweta Sehrawat, the star of India’s title triumph at South Africa. Her team consists of an enthusiastic bunch of players from the U19 squad.
The team will be coached by Nooshin Al Khadeer, the allrounder who headed the backroom staff at the U19 World Cup Championship. Coach brings experience to the table for the Emerging Asia Cup 2023 as she successfully headed the coaches of Gujarat Giants in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League.
The squad is hand-picked with the finest being on board for the Emerging Asia Cup 2023 tournament. Sehrawat herself, showcased some brilliant skills at the World Cup, topping the run-scorers charts with a total of 297 runs. Shreyanka Patil and Kanika Ahuja were spotted at their WPL games, while they played for RCB and impressed the selectors with their fine, classy skills and field presence.

Parshavi Chopra was the youngest selected at the WPL and now at the age of 17, she has made it to India A squad. Chopra was the second-highest wicket-taker at the WPL (with 11 wickets in all) and thus, this is expected to be a promising tournament for her. Titas Sadhu and Kashvee Gautam are among other highly recommended players who have caught the eyes of the selectors and have secured their place in the squad. The two have much more laurels to add to the squad’s bowling side.
The Emerging Asia Cup 2023 tournament is of the pool type, where Group A and B will compete amongst themselves and the top teams will make it to the playoffs. India A is a part of Group A and will play their inaugural game against Hong Kong A on 13th of June. Subsequently, the team is scheduled to play games with teams like Thailand A on 15th June and Pakistan A on 17th June, this month.

The second group consists of teams like Bangladesh A, Malaysia, Sri Lanka A and UAE. The finals will be held on the 21st of June.
