DC blows MI away with a professional performance; Jemimah Rodrigues and Radha Yadav lead the celebrations in the dugout

Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians locked horns in a crucial league-stage encounter in the WPL on Monday.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side slumped to their second loss and this time they slipped from the top position in the table. DC won the toss and opted to bowl. The bowlers proved Meg Lanning correct as they restricted the strong Mi batting lineup to a paltry total of 109.

Marizanne Kapp was the pick of the bowlers as she scalped 2 wickets with the new ball. Shikha Pandey and Jess Jonassen also picked up two wickets apiece while Arundhati Reddy also chipped in with a wicket.

For DC to topple MI in the points table, they had to win the match convincingly. Shafali Verma started the onslaught with a whirlwind knock of 33 off just 15 balls. After her dismissal, Alice Capsey came in and hit an unbeaten 17-ball 38 alongside captain Meg Lanning (32 off 22), to take DC home with 11 overs and 9 wickets to spare.

South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp was awarded Player of the Match. This win took DC to the top of the table as they had a better net run rate than MI.

During DC’s rollicking batting essay, Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav, and Jess Jonassen were spotted dancing in the dugout. The video went viral and has received enormous love from the fans.

DC reach the Final as MI and UPW will play the Eliminator

After DC’s win against MI, both teams were left with a match each in the league phase.

MI once again claimed the top spot in the table after beating RCBW by 4 wickets on Tuesday afternoon.

DC were left with no choice but to win their last league game against UP Warriorz later on Tuesday. They managed to do so with 5 wickets and 13 balls to spare. With this win, DC reclaimed the pole position in the table and have now booked their tickets to the final that will be played on Sunday.

MI, on the other hand, will go up against UP Warriorz in Navi Mumbai on Friday in an Eliminator. The winner of this match will face Delhi in the final.
