CWG 2022: One Member Of The Indian Team Tests Positive For COVID-19

Just ahead of the all-important Commonwealth Games, Team India has got a big blow as a member of the Indian team tested positive for the global pandemic novel COVID-19 before taking the flight to Birmingham. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed the development after the Board’s Apex Council meeting as well.

However, Team India are all set to face Australia in the first match when women’s cricket will make its debut at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on July 29 as well. The T20 competition will take place at the Edgbaston Stadium from July 29, with the bronze and gold medal matches taking place on August 7 as well.

However, this is going to be the first time that Women’s T20 International will be featured in the prestigious multi-sport event. India is placed in Group A along with Australia, Barbados and Pakistan. Sri Lanka, England, New Zealand and South Africa are placed in Group B as well. Meanwhile, Team India has recently completed an ODI series whitewash against Sri Lanka and before that, they also won a three-match T20I series 2-1 against the same opponents as well.
