CWC22: Pakistan’s Visible Batting Progress To Combat A Effective Spin Attack Of Bangladesh

Pakistan lost all the three matches it has played so far. Bangladesh also lost the two matches it faced against South Africa and New Zealand. Pakistan has worked on its batting and was seen when it nearly chased down a target against a mighty opposition like South Africa. New Zealand were clinical both with bat and ball against Bangladesh, South Africa defended a tricky total of 207.

Pakistan has improved in the batting front in the third match against the Proteas, they kept the run-rate in check and pushed forward their team close to the total. Their conventional way of playing through the defensive approach has cost it the first two matches in the tournament. The bowlers have been a mighty strength in the team, who always held the fort and triggered collapses against teams like India and South Africa. The pacers unit comprises Fatima Sana and Daina Baig. The extra spin option added to the team has only benefitted the team, Ghulam Fatima in the last match took 3 crucial wickets of Laura Wolvaadrt, Mignon Du Preez and Marizanne Kapp.

Bangladesh has a strong line-up of spin attacks and is causing trouble to even experienced batters. They will bank of them to restrict the run flow. An area they have to work on is their batting. The opening batters Fargana Hoque and Shamima Sultana have been the consistent and promising players to lead their batting with ease. Both these batters scored two-fifty partnerships so far. Fargana also scored the first half-century for Bangladesh in CWC 2022. The other batters have to improve the application and resistance in putting those skills together just like their opening pair. The spin attack is led by Salma Khatun.

Pakistan will be a dominant squad but Bangladesh can spring in a surprise and their strength of disciplined spin bowling complemented by a reliable batting attack will make this a close contest.
