Bangladesh Squad Announce for ICC T20 World Cup; Rumana Ahmed Returns

After having missed a lot of series in the 2019 season due to a knee injury, Rumana Ahmed has returned to Bangladesh’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia which is scheduled to begin next month. The allrounder, who earlier missed the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Scotland, returned for their tour to Pakistan and then again missed the recent T20 Quadrangular series in Patna. But her inclusion will be important for the upcoming T20 World Cup campaign.

Rumana Ahmed is the only inclusion to the squad that won the T20 Quadrangular series in Patna. They have announced the 15-member squad where Lata Mondal, Shaila Sharmin, Suraya Azmim and Rabeya failed to make it to the cut.

The team is blended with experienced and youngsters. While they have the experienced leader Salma Khatun, Rumana Ahmed in their kitty, they will get the service of the youngsters like Shobhana Mostary, and Murshida Khatun as well. However, they have strong spin-attack.

Salma Khatun, Rumana Ahmed, Fahima Khatun, Khadija Tul Kubra, and Nahida Akter are their main spinners, while Jahanara Alam, Panna Ghosh, Ritu Moni and Sanjida Islam’s part-time pace bowling will form their pace-bowling attack.

Along with this deadly bowling attack, they have the batters like Ayasha Rahman to provide them with a flying starts, with the likes of Nigar Sultana, Fargana Hoque and Fahima Khatun in the middle order to put up a decent total, as well as to chase them. Bangladesh are placed alongside Australia, India, New Zealand and Sri Lanka and will begin their campaign against India side on February 24.
