Cricket fans will be able to catch all the action in the inaugural Women’s IPL on Viacom18 for the 2023-27 cycle. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the Network 18-owned media house – Viacom18 is the successful bidder for acquiring media rights for the inaugural Women’s IPL (WIPL).
BCCI secretary Jay Shah tweeted on Monday that Viacom18 made the winning bid in the media rights auction. The landmark winning bid was INR 951 crore which translates to a value of 7.09 crore per match for the five-year cycle 2023-27.
In his tweet, Jay Shah congratulated Viacom18 for winning the WIPL media rights. He also than Viacom18 for showing faith in BCCI and women’s cricket. Shah also called the development “massive” for women’s cricket.

In a follow-up tweet, Shah further praised the involvement of Viacom18 in women’s cricket. He felt that it is a big step toward the empowerment of women’s cricket in the country.

When will the five franchises be revealed and when is the last date for player registration for the auction?
The first-ever edition of the WIPL is certainly one of the things you should be looking forward to if you are a fan of women’s cricket.
The auction for the WIPL franchises will be conducted on January 25, as per Cricbuzz. The player auction is scheduled to be held in February while the last date for players registering for the auction is January 26.
