The second day of the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 was a spectacle of the bowlers’ glamour. Pakistan A won their game and defended a low target against Nepal, whereas India A conveniently chased the target set by the hosts and registered their first win.

Another game was won by bowlers as they displayed some jaw-dropping skills. Here’s a brief review of the two games.

ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan A vs Nepal

The game between Pakistan A and Nepal was exemplary of how low targets can also be defended with the right skill set. While the Pakistani bowlers showed a collaborative effort, much plausible efforts were seen from team Nepal as they were able to restrict the giants to a low score.

Nepal won the toss and dominated the first inning of the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 as they bowled impressively well. Pakistan’s Eyman Fatima was sent back to the pavilion in the very first over, all thanks to Kabita Kunwar.

Kabita bowled impressively, leading the team’s way into fetching steady wickets from the opponents, snatching away their chance to play all 20 overs. She picked two wickets and her brilliant economy of 3.5 made her the Player of the Match. Shawaal Zulfiqur and Sadaf Shamas batted their way through, trying to maintain the team’s scorecard.

No major success was seen on Pakistan’s batting side. They all struggled their way through the stormy bowling performance of Nepal. Sita Rana Magar and Kabita Joshi also joined the wagon of wicket-taking deliveries. Indu Barma picked 3 wickets in the end and brought Pakistan’s inning to a close as they set 87 runs in all.

Nepal needed 88 runs to win in 20 overs. A tough comeback for Pakistan A, but they did carry it well. Kabita Kunwar seemed to be the only steady run scorer as she secured a maximum of 20 runs. Other batters collapsed in front of the collaborative bowling effort showcased by Pakistan.

Syeda Aroob Shah and Tuba Hassan picked two wickets each. Shah played at an impressive economy, restricting the opponents. Um-e-hani and Anosha Nasir picked single wickets each. Nepal in the end, did have some wickets in hand but wasn’t able to chase down the target in the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan defended the score brilliantly and registered their first win by 9 runs even after the destructive first inning. They really seemed to have risen from the ashes.

Pakistan 87/10 (Shawaal Zulfiqur 28 (36), Indu Barma 3/6) won against Nepal 78/6 (Kabita Kunwar 20(32), Syeda Aroob Shah 2/16) by 9 runs.

ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023: India A vs Hong Kong

The hosts were off to a disappointing start, with India defeating them by chasing a convenient target. The game at Mission Road Ground started with India deciding to chase.

A perfect plan for the team, as they were able to restrict the opponents to a considerably low score and secure the game in the second inning. Team Hong Kong was devastated by the bowling performance. They weren’t able to set partnerships, nor secure the required runs for the team. The middle order was completely shattered by Shreyanka Patil.

Shreyanka Patil caught the eyes of all. Her 5 wicket haul will be reminisced for years to come, as she held control of the entire first inning. Her steady wickets were backed by the low economy and wickets of Mannat Kashyap and Parshavi Chopra, which compelled the opponents into settling for a low score without giving them breathing space.

Hong Kong wrapped their inning at just 34 runs, which were further easily chased down by India A. Although Shweta Sehrawat lost an early, unfortunate wicket, Gongadi Trisha and U Chetry conveniently chased the runs down and helped India bag their first victory in the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023.

Shreyanka was named the Player of the Match.

Hong Kong 34/10 (Mariko Hill 14 (19), Shreyanka Patil 5/2, Mannat Kashyap 2/2) lost against India 38/1 (Gongadi Trisha 19(13), Betty Chan 1/15) by 9 wickets.
