The ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 is through to the knockout stage after several washed-out group stage games. In the second semi-final, Bangladesh A Women will face Pakistan A Women at Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok, Hong Kong.
In a recent match against Malaysian women, Bangladesh A Women demonstrated dominance by putting up a massive total and successfully defending it, resulting in a one-sided fight. Bangladesh A Women took the pitch first. The top order, which had a good start with the runner ball, was beaten twice in a row by off-spinner Mahirah Izzati Ismail.
Bangladesh A Women clawed the game away as their all-rounders rose to the occasion.
Murshida Khatun, 57 not out, combined with Shorna Akter for a 36-run partnership, followed by a 57-run conjunction with Rabeya Khan, which shifted the momentum at the end of the first inning.
While defending this 148, 5 out of 6 bowlers astoundingly kept the run rate under 3 per over, which disrupted the Malaysian Women’s chasing rhythm. Rabeya Khan was the player to watch, as she grabbed two wickets while surrendering only seven runs.
Pakistan A Women (PAK-W), on the other side, recently faced Nepal Women. PAK-W batted first, and no one in the batting order made a meaningful contribution save opener Shawaal Zulfiqar, who scored 28 off 37 while taking wickets. PAK-W batters scored only 87 runs. Their economic spells with bowlers, on the other hand, favoured them. They triumphed by nine runs in the end. Tuba Hassan and Syeda Aroob Shah contributed two wickets each for 39 runs.
