WBBL 08: Issy Wong, who was formerly a part of the Sydney Thunders will return to the WBBL this year as a Hurricane. Her impressive fast bowling and performance to die for in the recent few months have helped her bag this opportunity with Hurricanes this year.
Hobart has signed their trio of Wong, Mignon du Preez and Lizelle Lee. And yet, Vlaeminck is expected to miss this season as well, as she is still recovering from her right foot stress fracture injury. Wong had fetched 9 wickets in a span of 13 matches for the Thunders last summer. She is now expected to impress her fans yet again with her speed of 110kph and tactics.
“I can’t wait to come back to Australia for the WBBL,” Issy Wong said. “To be honest, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind since I got the call up to join the Thunder last year, and I can’t be more thankful for how that has helped me and my career. I had a great time at the Thunder last season, but I’m looking forward to joining the Hurricanes this year.”
What a seed!

WBBL 08: Issy Wong will be a key player for her side
“We had a really great match against them at the end of last season, and they’ve got some more really experienced players who have come on board since then, so I can’t wait to meet everyone and get stuck into learning as much as I can,” Issy Wong concluded.
On her debut for England, she fetched 3 wickets against South Africa, helping her team win the game by a huge difference of 114 runs. She has been impressive ever since then. Wong is also a handy batter who had smacked 43 runs off just 17 balls. The signing of Wong is also an indicator that no other international player will be further added to the squad. New Zealand’s Rachel Priest and India’s Richa Ghosh have thus missed their chance.
